PhD Student

Emmanuel Balogun

Ph.D. Student in Mechanical Engineering, admitted Summer 2019

Emmanuel is a mechanical engineering PhD student from Lagos, Nigeria and received his BSc. (Summa Cum Laude) in mechanical engineering from Howard University in 2018. After his undergraduate studies, he was at ChargePoint for about a year, helping design fast charging systems to fuel the future of electrification. Emmanuel envisions a future where power is clean and accessible globally and emerging/developing communities can harness their natural endowments to keep the lights on. His broad interests are in controls and optimization of distributed energy and autonomous systems, to reduce emissions and add economic value. His current research topics are focused on building frameworks using machine learning to understand the distribution of climate risk and scaling EV fast-charging using Li-ion batteries.
