Mateus Gheorghe de Castro Ribeiro

Ph.D. Student in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Admitted Autumn 2022

Mateus Gheorghe de Castro Ribeiro received his bachelor`s degree in mechanical engineering at the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), Brazil. Subsequently, he received his master’s degree in mechanical engineering focused on applied mechanics at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Brazil. He worked on various topics at the intersection of engineering applications and artificial intelligence (AI), including fuzzy logic systems, ultrasonic waves, signal processing, and Structural Health Monitoring. In 2022, he was awarded the CAPES/Fulbright Scholarship to pursue his Ph.D. in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University. His main area of research will focus on AI applied to sustainable energy systems.
